The latest and most fresh offering from the AMG division of Mercedes-Benz has gained a new portfolio so we can drool over our screens.

The AMG GT is a really important model for Mercedes because it signifies the beginning of a new era for their performance models. The years of the naturally aspirated V8 brutes are over, with Mercedes AMG adopting the downsizing trend and giving us a genuine rival to the Porsche 911 in the form of the twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 AMG GT.

It’s good to see that Mercedes stayed with the classic GT proportions of the SLS for the AMG GT, with its overall shape featuring clean lines and an unmistakable muscular presence.

The base GT model produces 456hp with 0-62mph (0-100km/h) coming in 4.0 seconds and a top speed of 189mph (304km/h) while the GT S takes the power up to 503hp, requiring 0.2 seconds less for the same figure, with a top speed of 193mph (311 km/h).

And if these specs are not enough to keep you from buying that 911, you might want to know that Mercedes is preparing an even hotter Black Series version.
